If you are a download freak, like I am, you probably don't need this tip. On the other hand, if you want to be one, I say you go get yourself Getright first. In case you're wondering what Getright does, here's the info. Suppose you're downloading a file, which takes quite some time. If you get disconnected, there's nothing you can do except curse your luck and start all over again. But if you're using Getright, you can continue downloading the remaining part of the file when you log back on.

You should be using Getright if you regularly download mp3s and videos from the Net, or even games and demos.

The more you read this page, the more cool stuff you find, and if you're like the rest of us... the more messy your computer is going to be if you don't know how to undo the actions of trying out the software in the first place. What I mean is you should use something that takes care of your computer whenever you ask it to. What this 'uninstalling software' does is it records the changes made by every software you install on the computer so when you want to remove the software, it removes all the changes made to the computer so that your computer goes back to the state it was before you'd installed the software. This is the only cool and easy uninstalling program I've found and it goes by the name of Quarterdeck Cleansweep. I've tried the newer versions but they aren't free and don't last long. I have the registered version 3.0 and if you want it, I might be able to give it to you.

If you've heard of mp3s and really love Winamp, you are in for a rude shock. Check out Sonique. The last time I checked, the latest version was 1.5 which is gonna be a bit bigger if you want all the plugins. If not, its only a 1.92 MB download. If you do get it, you HAVE to check out the FANTABULOUS skins out there. I spent two hours downloading 60-odd skins at 3 in the morning. Whew!

If you're one of the millions of people, who don't have a decent anti-virus software, and are really scared so as to whether or not you're infected with all the crap in the world, here's your chance to find out. Get Protector Plus Anti-virus Software ver 6.7.A01 which is a 1,000 K download but valid only for 30 days. After which, if you're smart, you can uninstall it, go back to the site, get the latest download, and install it again :-)

But one more thing though, I used this software for over a year, but now I've got one of the much-better anti-virus packages in the market - Norton Anti-Virus.

If you wanted a personal journal, and something like a planner along with it, and you don't give a lot of importance to looks, then this might be right for you. Its the CAREERMagazine Personal Journal v1.0. The only glitch is that it isn't password-protected :-(

Here's something that some of you MIGHT find useful. Its an Insult Generator and it supposedly creates millions of Insults. Some of them are really funny and good, but if you're human, you're bound to get bored of it pretty soon. You'll also find a lot of other stuff at The Spark although its kinda like an alternative site. Go figure! Even then, the Insult Generator is a pretty interesting download and you could have a lot of fun with it if you have the imagination and the inclination.

Saw this cool Official Formula 1 Racing Demo on TV.COM on Star World! The Download Of The Week on TV.COM on the June 18th show, to get this game, goto TV.CNET.COM and then click on the link for TV.COM. Then go back to the previous weeks show and get the Download Of The Week from the June 18th 1999 page. One more thing, its 7.4 Megs which is pretty small for such a great game.
